About me

I am a fine art landscape and architecture photographer based in Zurich, Switzerland. I am fascinated by landscapes and buildings alike. I admire their stoic appearance and their static shapes. They are the antipodes to our fast moving and supposedly agile world. They become alive not by nervously moving around, but by letting the changing shades of the sky do their job. You cannot direct them and, although you can frame them by walking around, they do not pose. They are simply there.

I am driven by an artistic vision rather than a desire to accurately depict reality or document subjects. I focus on the interplay of shapes and colours, favouring subtle, hidden shades over the obvious, vibrant ones. To move the subdued parts forward, I often stretch the dynamic range of hue und luminosity to its limits.

I mostly follow a very spontaneous approach to photography. Considering the time horizon of landscapes and architectures and their ignorance about my presence, the images can be viewed as candid photos. I do not plan the shots, only the area I want to explore. Then I go, I get surprised, I wait, I let the inspiration flow in, and then I take the images - or walk away.

I also enjoy revisiting places. I want to experience the same scene under different lighting conditions or personal moods. This allows me to better understand the elements which, in their interplay, make the scene magic.

At the end, my goal is to create visually compelling and emotionally rich images, inviting you to experience the moods and sensations as if you had been standing next to me at the moment of capture.
